I use a few Geocities accounts to host images. each account gives you 15MB.

"it won't work" you may be thinking because Geocoties don't allow offsite linking to images. whilst this is true, they don't stop offsite linking to text documents. all I do is rename image file names with a .txt extentsion and upload them. rather than linking an image for offsite display as a jpg, png or gif, just link use txt and most browsers will display the link luike thus:
Code:
[img]http://www.geocities.com/v8gent/examplebanner.txt[/img]
examplebanner.txt

works for me :)

You have a server now...who don't you host them yourself? Just a thought...

Clocker:

One, I don't really know how.

Two, I meant a server, and backup storage for the home network we have here.

My girlfriend NEVER backs anything up, except to floppies.

I don't know if I want a box running 24/7 to add to my already hefty electric bill...

But, thanks, it's an excellent idea.

Do internet providers get mad when you setup a residential account with a server?

I don't think the ISPs care unless you end up hogging a lot of bandwidth.

I run an FTP and an HTTP server 24/7 although I rarely use them/

Apache webserver (HTTP) is easy to set-up. You might look into it. You should be able to access some info about it here:

that's considered a backup? those damn things are so unrelaibale.

Really, a www server doesn't require a dedicated box. The CPU usage will probably be under 1% for 1% of the day and only a couple MB of RAM usage to laod the server daemon. The big requirements are bandwidth.

I've found the same thing about ISPs feelings on servers. As long as you're not reselling anything and you're not hogging bandwidth then it's fine.

Floppies used to be a lot better, actually. When they were $3.50 apiece.

I agree.. I have about 50 of those if you'd like to buy them.. Verbatim data life. straight from back in the day... written once, read 3 times
