What's so suprising? 8 years of someone who doesn't have the countries best interest in mind, and who manages to stay in by giving the foolish masses short-term bribes against their countries national debt. Seems pretty simple to me.

"You can fool some of the people some of the time," etc.

What's surprising is that he's getting away with it. LBJ didn't. Nixon didn't. Reagan didn't. Clinon didn't. Maybe we've just become too cynical and uncaring as a people and a nation.

But Bush is taking it to it's logical extreeme. He knows that the minority of people are smart enough to see what he's doing, so he's going all the way. Making moves right in the open that are clearly wrong if you can understand what he's doing, knowing that the majority will still go with him. The others made a slight nod toward the academics, and lost a great swath of the masses doing so. If Clinton had done tax cuts and subsidies instead of clearing the defecit, he would have been much more popular.

I actually got rather confused there for a minute. (Seriously. No joke.) I was only half awake having my morning cup of tea and caught myself wondering how come David was so familiar with the Australian scene. Then I remembered that the thread isn't talking about John Howard, it's some other bloke. But he could have been talking about Howard.

Seriously now, this is the modern trend in all things. Form over substance. It is exactly the same as the lights-in-cases craze in computers. People these days are so stupid.

Tony, does your leader take 10 weeks vacation every year, take two hours out of the working day to exercise, and go home at 5:30pm?

Forgot to add: don't even think about starting a "my leader is worse than your leader" war. You'll lose the shirt you have on your back.

Ha! Don't you start it. Our leader's greatest claim to fame is his unmatched skill at licking your leader's arse. Lower than that you can't get.

I've never seen them kissing....
