I've got a mini dock at home for my T40.
I also use a D-link 4port kvm to which my 3 computers are connected, as well as the mini dock. Problem is, the laptop won't boot if the mouse cable is connected to the dock (the other end in the kvm). When I take it out, everyhtings fine. The monitor and keyboard work ok.

Anyone have any experience with this?
I just got the dock last night, so I haven't had time to google for this yet...

i would try plugging a mouse into the dock and seeing if it boots. I know some KVMs draw power from the mouse/keyboard ports, dont know if that is the case for this KVM or how the power draw would affect a dock...

I assume you're sure you're using the mouse port on both the KVM and the dock?

Do you get the same result if that channel is selected on the KVM before booting as opposed to switching to to that channel after puching the power button?

I'll try both of your suggestions. I'm using an usb mouse at the moment, and I've only tried booting with the kvm on that channel so far. Mouse port is checked, as is the cable and another channel on the kvm.

A lot of laptops cannot provide the neccesary power to the KVM - which is why many of them have an option to plug in an external PSU.
