Probably not a big following here at SF, but I've been reading thier site for at least a couple years. (since apushardware) Looks like another hack has done them in for good. I used them as a news source, since their reviews weren't all that great. In either case, I'm surprised at the recent event and decided to share.

I'll never understand why so many sites don't have a backup and disaster recovery plan. I guess they are all little guys with shoestring budgets or part timers. As bad as the MBF was for SR, at least it did not kill the main database.

This isn't the first time Icrontic has been hacked, I remember the first time they were wiped out completely and had to start over from scratch.

SR didn't kill their main database because...they didn't have one. I remember Eugene telling either me or someone in a post that all their reviews were hard coded in HTML.

They lost their forum and their reliability databases, but not the reviews.
