Will, sorry, I've been disjointed today. It is a commentary on how the American people feel about intelligence/intellect, and about Kerry/Bush (don't read any correlations into how I phrased that)..

Pradeep, if a combo doesn't work, click on the "This login didn't work" button on the same screen that offered the first combo. I've got Firefox set to enable persistent cookies for www.latimes.com. I don't care - it's not my logon anyway. This way you won't be bothered again once you have a working combo. I've done the same for a few other sites (Washington Post, NY Times, etc.).

The main page seems to have an extension for Firefox, but I haven't installed/tried it out.

Another commentary: This election is about Rovism, and the outcome threatens to transform the U.S. into an ironfisted theocracy. We all have reason to be very, very afraid.
