Awesome! Thank you both for the new information (and to everyone else who's been trying to help me resolve this). I will pass this additional information along and hopefully get some answers tonight.

PS - is there some sort of special way of copying the text in cmd window?

Thanks Howell. I was doing it wrong. I was just highlighting the text, ctrl-c'ing and then pasting. But that wouldn't copy everything.

Correct way - highlight text, r-click cmd window title bar, select edit > copy, paste where desired....or, even simplier, just highlight and hit enter then paste where desired.

Even better,

highlite the text|r-click in the cmd window to copy
then paste into another cmd window with another r-click or ctrl-v paste.

Somewhere in time.
Happened to me for the first time (in a very long time). SF could not be found. From 15:40 to 18:30 PDST, 2004-10-18.

Has anyone else been seeing this lately? They did implement a change to the dns enties on Oct 23rd.

I checked the franticdownstream.com DNS zone file and it didn't have any references to the ns1 & ns2 IPs, so that I added those now.

I haven't heard anyone mention this in a while, so I'm hoping they fixed it.

The episodes slowly got less frequent. Haven't had one in a while, so I'm guessing it got worked out...as I didn't bother changing anything DNS related.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm guessing the change they made, fixed the problem. Sorry it took such a long time to resolve, but I do appreciate the help, so thank you everyone.

I haven't been able to post a new topic to SF in about 2 days.

Every time I try, I'll click Preview or Submit, and then sit there for ages until my browser returns a "Document contains no data" error.

Adding comments to pre-existing discussions (like this one) is no problem.

appears there may have been some DNS trouble... i changed my DNS servers to work around the issue. By default my smoothwall was checking kc.rr.com's name servers.
