I auditioned B&W, Mirage and Wharfedale before deciding on an all-KEF setup

Nice. I've owned B&W and Mirage (a fine Canadian product manufactured right here in Toronto....the actual manufacurer is Audio Products International. API produces the Mirage, Energy and Athena brands) and have really enjoyed the KEFs I've auditioned. In fact, if I was looking for speakers, KEFs would definitely be on the top of my short list....and likely to come out the winner.

Indeed, these are all good speakers. Merc should have added another rule to his don't buy speakers from companies that also make receivers: British and Canadian speakers are generally decent.

(I would still avoid Onkyo and Yamaha speakers if there are other choices, though...)

KEF Reference 5.1 setup? Not a bad way to melt the ol' credit card.

Fortunately, I pay cash.

They weren't THAT expensive. Less than I was expecting. The whole setup - speakers - was a hair under $10000.

Er. I guess that's relative.

Before you start picking on me... I'd been planning and saving for this purchase for about three years. Other people take vacations, I buy speakers.
