KT333, KT400 questions

Does the KT333 support 166MHz FSB/166 Memory (synch) settings?

I heard it does (need an unlocked chip).

If you run things at 166/166, is the PCI bus withing spec (running at 33.3Mhz)?

Anybody have any idea when the KT400 is due? Thanks.

The Epox 8K3A+ (KT333) that I'm running has a 1/5 divider that kicks in at 166Mhz FSB that puts the PCI and AGP busses at their spec values. Memory is also at 166Mhz.

I got my eyes on this issue in another forum thread some 15-30 days ago. Can't remember where.
However, I think it was for the same Epox motherboard which worked 166/166/66/33 (CPU/Memory/AGP/PCI)...

I would expect that other mobo producers put this feature to their solutions...

Of course they do - isn't that the whole point of KT333 chipsets, to provide support for 166 FSB (which would obviously include the relevant multipliers?) :-?

Ahh no. That was the point of the questions.

IIRC (and I'm seeking clarification here), revision CD of the KT333 does not support 166MHz FSB with a 1/5 PCI divider, revision CE does. There shouldn't be any rev CD version left, but I don't know that.

I believe the official stance is that there aren't any 166MHz FSB Athlons, hence no official support. But that is exactly what I'm trying to find out.

Thanks for the info Grolz and Prof. W. Looks like another EPoX for me - have an MVP3-G5, 8K7A+ and 8KHA+...

I should have mentioned that the 166 Mhz FSB is unofficial and also that you may need to bump your Vcore voltage to be able to achieve it.

Officially none of this is supported.
Unoficailly, I'm pretty sure the palamino core was designed to go up to much higher FSB than 166 and KT333 does allow the FSB to be 166 and all to be well elsewhere.
As I hear it however, some cheeper boards don't take to well to this.
Plus you have to unlock your CPU and drop the multiplier or face the challenges of one massive overclock.
I have also noted the need to increase the vcore voltage. Funny how 333ddr runs fine when the bandwidth isn't actually being used. Oddly enough 266ddr seems to run fine at 333 when its not being used too, or that could have just been the stuff I was using.
