I've been noticing in the last month or so that I am losing connections to the internet (now get this) except for storageforum.net... All pages I try to visit return a "page not found" error, except for SF.

After 5-10 minutes my net connection will resume and everything is happy. Today, I tried to access the admin panel on my router while this was happening, figuring if my cable service was down, I should still be able to access my router. Shortly after trying to renew my DHCP lease in the admin section, I was no longer able to access my router.

So I disconnected power, waited 10 seconds, then reconnected power. Now everything is working fine again.

I think the problem is getting worse (more frequently). I've had this unit for a while now and it has been using the same firmware that it shipped with. I think it might be on its way out. Has anyone else experienced this? I did some searching in google and found most people who complained of this issue had version 3 of this router. (mine is ver2)

Is this the error that says "The page cannot be displayed".. and at the bottom "Cannot find server or DNS Error"

or is this the "The page cannot be found" error, like a http 404 error message?

If the latter then it sounds like you have a problem with the local machine or with a proxy/middleman.

If the 1st then it sounds more like the router. It makes sense to have the newest final release firmware anyway, but there may be some other source of the problem... firmware shouldnt just go bad.

That's a good question blake, I don't remember if it said DNS or not. DNS or not, the router stopped responding when I tried connect (via IP address) to the admin panel.

Also, I can't find the latest firmware for version 2 of my router. They only had version 3 firmwares. I spent 10-15 minutes browsing their FTP server and I couldn't find anything...

Regardless, my thoughts were the same as yours, the firmware should just simply go bad... It worked for over a year with this version, why stop working now...

well, the only reason that I'm not 100% thinking the router has failed is that I was talking with someone the other day who's LAN of about 10 computers wer having problems accessing the internet.

The person could reach their linksys router's administration page, so concluded it was the router and replaced ith the same day... the new router had the same problem... Never got to stick around for the end of the story, but I thought it was strange...

In that case it may have been several things, I wasnt there to see how things were troubleshot.. it could be that it was a marginal power supply and that the power supply from the old router was used with the new one as well. Or it could have been bad luck and he could have gotten a bad router out of the box....

I haven't tried the reset yet, because I'll lose my settings. :) I'll suck it up and try, hopefully that resolves the issue.

Now the power supply is an interesting thought. I remember a couple people at work mentioning their power supply dieing, but I don't recall what symptoms they had. I think it just died and that was it...

Goto the connections tab|lan settings (at the bottom) and uncheck "Automatically detect settings". I was having the exact same trouble until I unchecked this box.

I checked, and I don't have a connections tab, or even a setting for "Automatically detect settings".

I used to use a UMax router/switch. I think what killed it was overheating. It was a slow death. One by one the 100Mb ports would stop working at 100Mb but would still work at 10. I have no experience with Linksys equipment but have you checked to see if the box is getting rather warm? Do they have vents and a cooling fan?

And if you have a second PC that you can connect, that's be good. You could eliminate any config probs or cabling issues.
