Looking for 200GB or larger hard drives

I'm looking for deals on hard drives that are at least 200GB. Fluid bearings are preferable. No Western Digital drives though. I've been checking Bensbargains and Deal Catcher, but I don't check every day and there might be some deals that I miss.

So if you know of a deal post it here.

I think Outpost needs to work on their math skills. The regular price of the drive is $219.99, the rebate is for $90. If you do the math, which I admit is extremely difficult you get a total of $129.99. I think I will e-mail or call them and ask how they get a total of $109.

Yeah looks like they have increased the retail price of the Hitachi, and haven't updated the after-rebate price to match. It used to cost $199.

That would have been a good deal at 200-90. But, I think I can do better than that. Plus, I have time on my side, prices will continue to drop.

Just found this, 200GB Maxtor Diamondmax +9. No rebates to deal with either. Seems like a pretty good deal.

I really wish Samsung would release some larger hard drives. They have the best warranty, the best price, and probably the best reputation in my opinion.

yeah, I was just about to say that the retail DM+9's come with a 1 year warranty...

rebates from maxtor seem to take about a month or two (which seems standard for just about everywhere else too)

Rebate wierdness: I got an email letting me check the status of the Hitachi $90 rebate, it said invalid, wrong UPN was supplied, and the address to send the correct one to. That was a few days ago. Today I check it again to print it out and send the correct UPN (I had two of them), now it says valid and in final stages of processing. Crazy stuff.

CompUSA 200GB shipped from Texas, so a week wait for ground shipping. At least Outpost has a depot in NJ.

Either I'm going to have to go back to using giant SuperMicro tower cases or drives are going to have to start getting bigger again.

Too bad they don't stock the SATA version. I keep changing my mind over whether I want to go that road or not.

Now that I think about it, it should be possible to put four 2.5" drives in a 5.25" HH bay... that would solve my problem rather nicely. When's that changeover to 2.5" desktop drives happen, again?

For the same $ you can get the 120GB/8MB SATA drive. But I don't consider that to be much of a deal.

Write to Seagate and ask when they plan to offer bluetooth HDs.

Neither Bluetooth nor Wireless USB (it's coming) would be worthwhile, unfortunately, since they're both shared media.

I was thinking something more like custom internal cabling + internal SATA or Firewire or SCSI or whatever. Surely there will be multi-drive external SATA enclosures, just as there are now multi-drive firewire and SCSI units.

I just sold an 80GB baracuda iv for $65 + $8 shipping that was replaced by the 200GB from CompUSA. I can't believe anyone would buy a two year old 80GB drive for $73, when you can get a new drive twice the size for a few dollars more. Or a new drive of the same size for less.
