...HOWEVER, you might just want to make sure that the SATA interface on this new Maxtor drive is "native" before you do that, in other words no serial-to-parallel bridge circuitry on the drive. So far, only Seagate's entries are native SATA -- all of them.
We'll have to see what WD and eventually IBM (Hitachi) offers as far as nativity goes (heh... is that the proper usage of
nativity[/]?). Native SATA is an important factor for RAID, but not so much for ordinary ofice computers at this point in time.
