Anyone have a fix for why my WinXP gives me, after mapping something from my linux, something like " the destination does not support long filenames" when I try to save something?

If I just go to start-> run -> \\IP\share everything works ok?

Using Samba 3.x on the linux (tried 2 different shares). Gotta check I haven't downgraded anything....

Anyone?

One ext3 filesystem, one reiserfs. Default style mounting in fstab.

I'll post the conf file when I get home. SMB.conf file hasn't changed, I'm just wondering what else could have changed, in WinXP or RH9, that would cause this.

looks pretty stock, one thing missing in the blobal sections is a netbios name... shouldnt make a difference though...

Also I usually uncomment the OS level line, not sure if that matters.

additionally, I missed something on your shares...

Code:
[music]
   path = /home/music/
   public = no
   writable = yes
   valid users = blake

"writeable = yes" ... you have "read only" instead... in the examples it doesnt have a read only option.. maybe that's throwing things off?

'Writeable' and 'Writable' are supposed to be reversed synonyms for 'Read Only'. Standard Samba.

Reinstalled SP1, uninstall/install client for MS networs and file/print sharing, some regcleaning etc.... a bit better, but still not functioning properly. Going to run SFC later...
