I didn't buy it!
But the lady who I was helping out went out and bought it.
They STILL have NOT fixed the dang automatic update.
It hangs the start menu toolbar thing... the whole thing...
Anybody else experience this or know of a fix?
I tried both automatic and prompted update, they both did it.
I can't leave it on manual update because she would have to learn how
to do it.
Dang I wish she had consulted with me on the buying decision.

I too do not have much experiance with McAffee. I actually like Symantec Anti-Virus 2002. More to the point, can you use the MS scheduler to auto-run the manuel updater. This may only create a pop-up window, on a regular basis, that requires her to actually operate the program, or kill it out of annoyance.

Who know, she may learn inspite of her inborn nature.

If she wants to get her money back (or you want her to get her money back), you can always let Mcaffee know you're refusing the software license.
They'll give you a refund.

Takes a couple weeks, though.

They actually have a support forum.
And there is a 6.02 version that supposedly fixes all these problems.
But it had too many bugs and was pulled from the downloads section.
They don't know when a fixed version will be posted.

I don't know about the NAV 2002, but I and a few other people I know of have had some nasty lockups with earlier NAV products. Like using the automatic update and not getting into Windows after that.
After a few problems like that I haven't touched NAV. I know they all have problems (they=av companies) sometimes, but NAV has just been too problematic to me.

I started on 3.5 and was hooked up to a point... I have never had so many problems in both personal and corporate versions when dealing with antivirus software. My last job was on 4.5 corporate and it caused all kinds of problems but that was mainly due to bad DAT versions every now and then.
