2. My understanding is that romance novelists are paid to write stories of a certain length - 40,000 words for $1500 or somesuch. The writer in question probably finished up her story and realized she had some padding to do.

Anyone here actually watch Meerkat Manor? I'll admit I got hooked. It's basically a soap opera where the main characters are 1 foot tall and furry.

My wife is addicted to MM. What is interesting is that as much as it's a family show there is death, tragedy, and violence. Not too long ago the long-time leader was killed by a foe who invaded their tunnel. She sacrificed herself to save the offspring.

Absolutely. I was hooked from the first episode. It isn't the Disney cartoon like saga you might think it is, either. There are no scripts, and the producers just let nature run its course, even if that means some of the main characters go off to that big burrow in the sky.

The sad thing is MM is better viewing than "Big Brother" as most of the critters in MM have more intelligence than those in BB...
PS. Not a fan of either, only watch them if nothing else is on TV at that time...

I watched the first one, and I actually liked it (though a bit slow). My GF didn't though, too real (death of cute things and such).
