Network switch question

We have some Avaya Cajon P115G switches installed on our network. If we transfer some large files (over 100meg) these switches really bog down. Some file transfers can take hour. If we substitute a 3COM switch, the same transfer takes only a few minutes.

Any ideas on the Avaya swithes being so slow???

bad autonegotiation

try manually setting speed/duplex settings on both systems and try again to see if that's what it is
