5 years would be very nice for laptops, cell phones, mp3, etc.

There is a small piece of news over at Engadget titled New lithium-ion battery could last 20 years, long after you've broken the devices they once powered. Seems interesting if possible.

I thought about that article after seeing it, then said after reading Handy's thread title....well yeah, but I bet that Li-ion batter will admit to taking steroids in another decade or 2 just like McGuire :rofl: (doesnt' the site owner even have the ability to edit thread titles?).

But seriously, we've seen any number of 'announcements' about improved battery tech, that so far have yet to make it to wide-spread @low cost, consumer level availability. I'll just take a wait N see, as this current process hasn't even made it into production, yet another 'lab' experimental device.

The Li-Ion orig battery in my 9+yr old cell phone is still going (w/about /at least 50% of orig capacity I guestimate), should probably do a battery commercial/Timex ad w/it :D
