If they are yanked then there is generally a very good reason - i.e. they are buggy. With IDE drivers do you really want buggy with the associated risk of data corruption. On the other hand, it is annoying that the previous drivers don't work well with ATAPI drives.

You can always use the default MS IDE drivers.

Good excuse to keep using all my SCSI optical drives. :)
Given the reportedly fantastic IDE performance, I'd really like to at least have the option to try them, especially if all that's broken is ATAPI.
