I bet the price is awesome too...
Undoubtedly! Early technology adopters *always* pay out the wazoo. But, I'm predicting that once this technology starts shipping in reasonable volumes, it will turn out to be W-A-Y more interesting to the public than Bloo-Ray and HD-DVD.
What could turn out to be the first real killer product from holo-storage technology is holo-storage based on a credit-card-like medium. The card is pushed into a reader/writer much like a credit card reader. This type of reader/writer will have a head that traverses the surface in an X-Y fashion as the medium stays dead still. Storage capacity for one of these holo-cards (dependent on the number of layers) could start off around 20 GB to 25 GB and go to well over 150 GB.
