That is just what we all need - another proprietary data storage format. :( Where will my data be in 10 years?

So, this is just a bunch of very thin DVD disks in a cartridge. Not great, but acceptable, I suppose, for backup.

They talk about a high capacity changer for this newfangled proprietary optical drive, so, it looks as if they are trying to target the enterprise optical drive market.

The enterprise optical drive market has pretty much been ruled by magento-optical (MO) technology for well over a decade. DVD technology (DVD, DVD-R, DRV-R/W, and DVD-RAM) has been taking over the bottom end of this market. Magneto-optical keeps getting faster, increasing in capacity, and gets a little bit cheaper per GB every year or so to stave off DVD technologies.
