Front page news, probably, but since I seem to have lost my login...

This is a discussion of the business end of platter manufacturing technology. It's just a different point of view from our usual discussions on the forums.

I'm iterested in the link because it has a random generator...what is that all about? I didn't actually get to any news, I think it still wanted me to register...

I looked in the user list and I don't see your name for the front page (separate login from the forum) Did you use a different name? If so I can reset the password perhaps?

Just hit your "back" button and resubmit. Majcher.com generates New York Times logins automatically, to avoid the hassle of not being able to link straight to NYT stories.

The crux of the story is, despite billions in R&D and technical and cost improvements that outstrip Moore's law by better than 50%, the industry sees commodity products and almost zero demand for the current progress of magnetic storage technology.

That much we basically already knew. But the story is also an inside look at some of the lower levels of manufacturing, something we almost never hear about.

At one point I registered on the front page with username = Mercutio. Have the logins been rebooted since I last played around on the frontpage?

If it was the offical front page (IE not the "area 51" or beta site) then nothing has been purged or lost. There are 6 names that have not been activated, perhaps one of them is yours?

I can only see the e-mail address, not the username registered. I looked through the front page list and there are only 42 active names and none are named Mercutio.
