He wants to do 125 floppies, and that's cool, but it looks to me like he'd max out his USB1.1 interface at around 30 2x drives. He's going to need to duplex across several controllers to get the full power of his 125 drive RAID. If performance scales linearly, at 125 drives he'd be looking at 6.25MB/sec transfer rates.

This is the kind of engineering work that the world just needs more of.

I kinda faintly recall hearing about someone once (1999-ish) building SCSI Zip drive RAID array, using a hardware RAID controller.

yeah, I have a vague memory of this being done in the past - maybe it was the Zip thing Explorer is refering to.
