Hey,

Well I was just watching CNN for a couple of minutes to catch the latest news on the Columbia disaster. I was quite shocked that, just before CNN came back online to update what items have been recovered, an HP commercial was aired - you've probably seen it as it showcases a person in spacesuit in a suburban neighbourhood. The shocking part is that the last comment by the narrator is something along the lines of "HP helping to bring all of our space explorers home safely"!!! OMG. Who was the stupid #%$^ who didn't get that commercial pulled. I can't believe that just got played - 24 hours after the fact!

For shame HP, for shame.

PS - speaking of bad taste, shouldn't that Arab joke get nuked?

I was also reading that CNN has information online about one of the female astronauts. I guess at one point she made a mistakes. This is BS, read it here. Could they not wait to post this until after their families grieve for a while...

The Arab joke is also poor taste IMHO.

On the contrary, it's a very good idea to post that commercial after the shuttle accident. At least now it reflects the true value of HP systems. Honest commercials are a rarity, you should learn to appreciate them.

Armageddon was supposed to air on FX last night and this afternoon, but was replaced by one of the Aliens movies. A space shuttle (I believe the Columbia) is destroyed by an asteroid in the beginning of that movie.

Somewhere in time.

You make a valid point. I believe after investigation it was found that a series of small errors both on the ground and in the air was the cause of the problem. More than anything else, the press needs to get their facts right; then of course, they need to be sensitive to the situation.
