Somewhere in time.
Any good ones? They mostly seem to be flaky. WD seems to be selling one. Perhaps worth a try?

Thanks.

I have a couple of USB 3.0 adapters which seem to work similarly. I think mainly an NEC chipset is used. One of the adapters was SIIG as was the 2.5" enclosure and fan-cooled toaster. I figured that being the same brand they would work well together and they have. Now my new system has onboard USB 3.0 and it works fine with the other storage devices including a more recent 1TB USB 3.0 WD 2.5" drive. Unfortunately I went too far by getting a USB 3.0 hub. It locks up after a while and is not fit for use. :(

So far all of the USB 3.0 solutions I have seen to date (well outside of what Intel is doing now) have all been using the same NEC controller. This includes cards like what WD is packaging with that MyBook 3.0, soldered on-board solutions that desktop motherboards have, and even what chipset notebooks are using.

At this point getting whatever's cheapest will probably be fine.
