Hello everyone,

I am looking to buy a couple of IDE cables (have not yet got Serial ATA motherboard or add-on card). I remembered reading that "bit rot" or data corrution can occur if using IDE cables beyond certain lengths (will try to find that article). What is the recommended IDE cable length you would recommend?

Thanks for all your help.
Cheers,
Edward

Thanks! Yeah, I think I remembered vaguely 18" but is not totally sure

I looked at some of the Sydney Online shops and most are selling 75cm to 100cm ones. I think this is a rip off for unsuspecting customers! :x

Thanks again for your help.

Cheers,
Edward

Thanks for the link Dogman and thanks for the editing Howell. One thing to note in Dan's article, he says that the 8-bit bus was extended to 16-bits. It's important to note that the interface actually supports to busses, there is the 16-bit bus, plus an additional 8-bit bus. The 16-bit bus is used for accessing data.
