Something happened with my DVD-RAM files, very similar experienced with my Max MO, a few years ago. No, there is no any media defect, but just question I ask myself here, fishing for some constructive suggestion.

Usually I keep them write-protected. But just this once, it was in drive and allowed for XP - before booting - to be checked. Well it is "checked" all right with chaotic XP style of destroying things.

This be the state found at the moment, serves me well, for daring even occasional use of XP :

This never ever happened with any other OS, particularly with other Windows.

So my question is ; this media had pretty nice sorted collection of things from my work. I could find them on other places, but, I wonder, since files and folder are still here. Is there any program or utility that I could use to recreate this mess back into the folders and original files?

The suggestion I almost always make when these things come up is to try Runtime Software's Get Data Back. You'll probably need the version for FAT.

Well done and thanks Mercutio,

Exactly what I was looking for. Some dedicated software to match. I'm looking into it and hopefully will praise the results at later hour

Is that going to work? Aren't DVDs UDF of some flavour?

No, not necessarily. This particular DVD-RAM of mine is FAT32.

I can only sing the praise and dare not to postpone my utmost admiration toward this program.

Pretty much everything is recovered and mind you, in clean and elegant fashion, almost as mint state of folders and files. I highly recommend this program to anyone in need for such remedy.

Much obliged Mercutio :king:
