Yes, I'm one of those truly strange people that takes all his original CD's,
and if possible, copies them for his own use, so the original doesn't get scratched. I'd like to do the same with our movies.

What programs have people used to do this with, and what should I know about the process?

Toshiba SD 3109 is my only real worry. It won't play the one disc that I have that has been copied, while my computer will.

Thanks

Pinnacle makes just such a program. It's basically the first thing you see on their website. I'm too lazy to link.

Your other alternative is to rip your DVDs with DVD Decrypter or Smartripper and then run the VOB files through vdubmod to get nice divx backups (or to use a program like easydivx). IMO that makes a better final result than making S/VCDs, but of course it can only be played on a PC.
