new to SCSI, just got a Dell Precision620 that has 2 X18.4G Fujitsu
MAN3184MP HDD (Ultra160). The problem is one is set to 160MB and the other is set to 40MB in the SCSI utlity with 40 being the max setting, I think SYNC might be another option. Is termination the issue here? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

that sounds odd being that they are both the same drive.

make sure your SCSI bus is set up as follows

Controller -> Drive -> Drive -> terminator

Make sure that Term. Power is enabled on both your controller and the drive next to the terminator. Make sure the terminator is LVD U160 rated as well.

also, make sure that termination and term power is NOT enabled on that middle drive next to the controller.

Almost sounds like one of those drives was plugged into the Ultra2 channel. (assuming the controller has multiple conections on it) But as Blake said, I'd make sure both drives are on the same cable with the terminator at the end. I've read that enabling term power is subjective. (I'll try to find a link on that) I use it, but I have read that it isn't always required.

rookie move on my part- I was looking at the "B" channel where no drives were found and where the transfer was set to "40MB" once I looked to the "A" channel at device "#1" it was set at "160MB" just like device "#0" was. Sorry about that- your responses on the termpower helped me get that jumpered right . thanks
