I need to know the pin settings on a Seagate harddrive Model ST351A/X to set it to "Single Master Mode" to use in a USB "Quick Drive.

Thanks for the post showing the pin settings. I used the pins 1 & 2 which from the link showing the settings was for Master/Slave also pins 11 & 12 which would be for XT

Am I correct in using pins 11 & 12 or do I need to only use pins 1 & 2 ?
I hope I am not being a bother but I have only install one hard drive and that was years ago.

The "Quickdrive" that I want to use the hard drive in is a Model - T5 by H45 Technology Inc using a USB2 connection.

Again, thanks for the help

If you have the 1st model then it looked like only pins 1/2 needed to be jumpered.

I don't think it would hurt if you mis-jumpered the drive, just turn off power and adjust the jumpers as needed.

I know it's a long time ago, but did you have any luck with this? I've got the same drive and trying to connect using usb2.0 to IDE addaptor. Windows XP sees the drive and even shows the model number, but tells me there is no driver. Any ideas?

By all means, be as negative as you like - it was a long shot. Anybody else got any ideas re: accessing this type of drive via a usb2 adaptor? I'm assuming I need a driver from somwhere, but both Seagate and Microsloth assure me that I don't, so what would I know. I only started doing it because I'm curious as to what I left on it way back when the thing was actually in use, but now it's become an exercise in bloody mindedness - can this thing beat me?

Sorry Oreyes57, can't seem to reply to your private message. hope you read this.
I eventually gave up and binned the thing. It seems to be a common limitation with these IDE to USB addaptors. I cannot get mine to recognise any drive smaller than about 1 Gig, regardless of brand name, etc.
It's not really an issue if you just wants some storage, but I was hoping it would be an easy way to access the contents. I ended up installing it as a second drive in an old PC, copying the contents to a flash drive, then pulling it back out and binning it.
Sorry I couldn't help
