Leaving you passwords lying around is the computer equivilent of leaving your keys lying around. There is nothing inhieriantly wrong with it, untill someone takes it upon themselves to use/take the keys. Once those keys are gone then your risks of bad things happening have greately increased because maybe those keys will be used simply for someone to take your car and go to the market, returning everything once finnished. However, maybe those keys will be used for vehicular manslaughter. The point is once the keys have been taken, you no longer have control of what may occur in your name.

Someone taking your passwords may simply look around, they may format your HD, change all your passwords to some other passwords, or they may use your computer to hack other's computers. You just don't know, because you no longer have control. The risk is entirely based upon who ends up with those passwords and what their intentions are.
