I hate scrolling through a gazzilion pages .... why hasn't any of the word processing programs come out with tabbed documents yet? I could organize so many things so much better if I could break files up into tabs, and still preserve the info all in one file (as opposed to several small files). Probably an excellent alternative layout for chapters too.

Seriously, we use tabs in spreadsheets, tabs in browsers, so why not tabs in text documents?

I'm with Tannin on that one...I mainly use a text editor, not a word processor if I can help it. I either use editpad lite, or at work I use crimson editor (sine it is completely free). However, your idea is a good one. I think it would be useful.

Apparently there is a Tabbed interface for OO coming in release 2.1 ... which in itself is a good step in the right direction ... this is of course is akin to the tabbed browser interface.

But I haven't found info on the tabbed text document ... akin to the spreadsheet file layout.

This post hits upon these very same features ... oh but to have my cake and eat it too!

Crimson editor for when I get serious, but 90% of my work with stuff like this is in old notepad.

I also use beyond compare quite a bit for difference finding.
