Well, TiVo and Netflix are teaming up, despite what looked like to be troubled waters about a month ago. Read more here

It'll be interesting to see what kind of pricing/viewage plan they introduce. Could you for example have 3 dl'd movies availble at any one time on the basic plan? I'm guessing it would dl a new movie overnight (how long does it take to dl 7-8GB on broadband?)

Bleh. DVDs are undoubtedly easier to steal.

True, but this is basically movies on demand. No more waiting for the mail. Now you don't even have to goto the mailbox, let alone the video store.

Again I say "bleh."

My Tivo doesn't have a digital output. My bandwidth it reserved for porn other porn things porn. I'm NOT analog-capturing a movie off a Tivo if I can get the same thing from a real DVD with alternate soundtracks and decent surroundsound options.

It won't really be a movie on demand unless they can compress the hell out of it. Even if it were 500 MB's, it'll take a long time to buffer before you get a skip-free playback.
