To Dellf or wait? That is the question!

I got myself a Dellf coupon today for 25% off an LCD. That combined with a possible extra $35 off $400 coupon would get me down to $505 for the 2005FPW. Should I wait until Feb. as originally planned or do this now?

I guess the question is...do you think these things will be running around $500 in Feb?

Even if it dropped to that in Feb, buying it now you will get to use it now.

It's a technology device. Find the price point at which you're comfortable and jump in once the product hits it. Playing the 'will it be cheaper soon' game is a (minor) stress point no one needs.

I'm doing the same as Fushigi has suggested. I made a goal that I would consider the Dell 2001FP once it got below $600. Now that the price is here, I may buy it.

Well...this will be a B-Day present from my wife. She's like the birthday present police and won't let me use it until after my B-Day. I figured if I don't have to buy it now to get the sweet price I better not torture myself.

I don't keep track of these coupons. Does Dell have coupons like this all year long or just around the holidays?

Dellf is just for the holidays, but there are always Dell coupons & sales at bensbargains.net. Maybe not as good, but probably close.

I would get it now if I were you. I have great doubts that it will be any cheaper in February.

I just checked and my 25% coupon expires on Jan 15th so I think I'll wait until around that time to buy.

The main reason I'm going to wait is that I believe the dead pixel replacement policy is effective during the first 21 days or so. I don't want the dead pixel guarantee to be expired before I can even open the box....

This is true. However it can be used to your advantage: "Honey, I have to take it out of it's box and test it now, I only have 21 days to be sure it doesn't have any dead pixels. You don't want me to be stuck with a lemon for my b'day do you?"

And how better to check the pixels than give it a workout with Doom3 etc :)

This is technology. It's always cheaper later.

Especially when we're talking about large LCD monitors. Prices have fallen like a stone in the last few months, and with a shaky economy, I reckon the trend will continue.

Still, you have to enter the market at some point.
