I would like to purchase a 'box' that would connect to an antennae and then to my TV. My TV is HD ready and has a set of connectors on the back for HD. The box should also be able to convert digital to analog.
I guess I don't really know what to ask for. I want free HD and digital from over the air and be able to feed them to my TV. (Sony Wega)
Any ideas what I need?

Thanks,

What you want is an ATSC HDTV terrestrial tuner like the Samsung SIR-T451 or DTBH260F:

ATSC is the technical standard for digital TV signals much like NTSC has been the technical standard for analog TV signals for the past many years. If you want to pull in digital and HDTV signals OTA (off the air), usually, all you need is ATSC compatibility. If you need to decode digital and HDTV signals from cable, you also need QAM compatibility, which is the transmission technique usually used for digital cable.

I have the Samsung 451, it also works with unencrypted QAM. However, navigating to a sub channel is laborious at best. It has DVI (with HDCP) output, so you can hook it up that way (use an HDMI->DVI cable if needed). It also has S-vid/composite if needed for an older TV.

In North America.

The majority of the world uses DVB, though ISDB-T is used in Japan and now been chosen by Brazil. Brazil's choice may influence Argentina and other South American nations.

The TV has connectors for HD. Don't know offhand if it has a DVI port. The amount of connectors on the rear of the set is mind boggling. I'll have to get the manual out.
