USB flash drive recovery

Can't seem to find any recommendations here to recover a USB flash drive. Already tried GetDataBack, does anyone have another favorite?

Recover from what? Accidental deletion, accidental format, hardware failure?

My information is secondhand, but I assume that for no known reason, data on the drive is no longer readable.

In my experience, if it is file system related, GDB works great. If it is anything else, you are hosed regardless.

Get Data Back does all the same tricks as those, plus a few more.

I've finally received word back about the symptoms:

When I plug in the pc recognizes the drive as "removable device" but when you click on the drive the message says "Please insert a disk into drive x".

Windows properties shows the disk as file system RAW and no free space with 0 bytes.

So this is a lost cause?

Sounds dead to me, too. The controller is working, but there is nobody home.
