I have a SCSI Hard drive here I need information off of.

It's a Seagate - Model ST34573LC; now I have found a USB to SCSI converter, but I am not really sure if it's the right converter for this SCSI drive. The URL to the converter is listed below:

If anyone with more experience in this situation can enlighten me, it would be of great help. Thanks.

The adapter you referenced is for external SCSI devices... what you need is an internal adapter, and a cable/adapter for your 80 pin drive...

I'd recommend a cheap SCSI controller, basically any internal 68pin SCSI2/u160/u320 adapter will do.. here's a link to a specific one (though feel free to beg, borrow, ebay for one):

Okay, I thought that was the wrong one.

They don't make any USB type items to just grab it off the drive?

Thank you for the information given.

The 80 pin drive is meant for a hot swap bay with a backplane... I've never seen a cable, card, etc meant to interface directly besides a SCSI backplane or one of these adapters (basically a mini backplane).

And as far as something USB/firewire... most of that stuff is aimed at ease of use and capacity/price with performance being a tertiary concern... as such I've never run across an external usb enclosure that will work with SCSI drives (whose concerns typically run counter to those just mentioned).

If you use one of those adapters, make sure you put some electrical tape on the back of the molex connector. It is very easy to short those solder connections to the hard drive case.
