Hi

My SO uses Aol, and, I've found a rather intresting bit of work.
the process file waol.exe was using between 95-100% of the processor on the
Athlon 3000, at idle. When I started working, it continued sucking up the cpu.

I stopped the process, did a little research, and, it seems to be some sort of worm, or virus.

Anyone have more information?

By the way, AOL was not running at the time.

Anyone know anything about this?

There are multiple viruses, worms, etc that call themselves waol.exe. Run virus and spyware/adware scanners on the computer to determine what you need to do to remove it.

Seems there were 3 of them. Deleted two, and, with one, it still works.

Memory usage went down from 30,000, to 10,000.

Who knows?
McAfee didn't pick up anything. Nor did Trend, etc.
