WARNING: False eBay message

I'm posting this to serve notice to everyone here that if you receive a message similar to the following that appears to be from eBay it is false. A sign on page asks you for personal information or they threaten that your account will be closed. DO NOT fill out any information. This is a way for scammers to get your personal information. Note this mispelling and poor grammer which is a clue that it's not from eBay.

Here is the message in it's entirety:


Dear eBay customer,

During the last time we have been re-writing our security policy
according to our database uppgrades. From now on you will have
to verify your account and your personal information and
confirm that you are the true holder of your account.

All information is kept confidential in accordance with
eBay/Paypals privacy policy, and all the data is protected
by the industry standard SSL encryption.

Click on the link below and follow the instructions: www.ebay.com/pages/verificaion/

IMPORTANT:
Unless you do not verify your account it will be closed,
and you will have to re-register your membership.

Now that you brought it up I do remember that thread so sorry about posting again for the same topic. Two warnings can't hurt, though. It's a shame there's so many scam artists out there that you need to keep on your toes all the time.

I can't believe it. I just checked my inbox and the bastards sent me another message:

During our regular update and verification of the accounts, we couldn't verify your current information. Either your information has changed or it is incomplete.
Please update and verify your information by signing in your account below :
If the account information is not updated to current information within 5 days then, your access to bid or buy on eBay will be restricted.

Since receiving the first one that prompted me to make the "Rip me off?" post, I have received six more.

I guess Paypal must not be too concerned.
