Cool, thanks Merc. I needed a card with 48bit addressing because my TigerMP doesn't support it. Also I've run out of IDE channels on the mobo in any case.

That's been posted here for 10 minutes. I saw it 10 minutes ago. Omnipresent, remember?

I've got a (1) WD2000JB. They're hot. Or mine is, at least. I'm talkin' SCSI-type hot. Barracuda III hot. Mine has an 80mm case fan in front of it and still makes a warm spot on the case in question.

Oh well, should come in handy for winter. I would have gone for the Maxtor 5400rpm 250GB drive but there wasn't a rebate on that. Just so long as it lasts longer than your 1200ABs

It's the 600ABs that inspired my rant. Not that I haven't RMA'd 1200ABs, but at least with those I haven't exceeded 100% replacement yet.

WDDIAG reported an error on one of my 600ABs just a moment ago, in fact. Lucky me.

Some of the "stars" on the disk probably keep infecting it with some disease

Have a look at the new WD external 250GB drive. It even lights up with some kind of pink/purple light. For $450 it would want to.
