What about lessening the clusterfuck that happened after the fact? How many days did it take to get the Red Cross in? How long were phone, internet and cell networks dead?

Hugh Hewitt had Fox News reporter Major Garrett on his show tonight (transcript at Radioblogger) to explain his breaking story that Governor Kathleen Blanco and Mayor Ray Nagin have blocked aid from reaching the victims of Hurricane Katrina and the flooding that buried New Orleans. Blanco and Nagin apparently did not want to encourage people to stay in New Orleans, even though neither one did anything to assist them to leave during the mandatory evacuation.

You know what I am not going to watch this Sunday? The stupid Academy Awards. If I hear one more person talk about those I will kill.

I feel exactly the same way. The Academy Awards is just an annual stupidity where all the stars with already massively inflated egos massage each other's ego's yet more with BS awards. I wish the whole thing would disappear along with the Grammys, Emmys, and all the other pointless celebrity awards. Take about gratuitous photo-ops which is what these things really are! I hate the look who-was-wearing-what pictures in the papers the day after even more. Do that many of the general public have such a shallow life that they really care what these overpaid crybabies wear or do in their annual ego-boost?

Only thing I would like to see most celebrities wearing is orange prison jumpers for scamming the public out of their hard-earned money.

The more Oscars it wins, the more Fundies have coronary episodes. I see it as win-win.
I'm not sure about and coronary attacks, but it certainly shows how out of touch Hollywood and "The Academy" are.

You know what I'm not going to watch this week?

Everything!

Well, same as last week and next week, actually.

I'd rather have a heroin habit than a TV habit: I'd absorb an equal amount of useful information, have vastly more time to spare for important things, and undoubtedly enjoy the whole thing more.

"While I listen to you talk about freedom, I see you assert your right to tap my telephone, to arrest me and hold me without charges, to try to preclude me from breathing clean air and drinking clean water," real estate broker Harry Taylor told Bush at a town hall meeting. "I have never felt more ashamed of, nor more frightened by, my leadership in Washington."

The audience at Central Piedmont Community College booed...
That last bit scares me more than what Bush has done. He's done what he did and has gotten away with it because he's been allowed to.

Those town-hall things are usually filled with pre-screened republican zombies. No surprise they booed him - there wasn't a single other person there capable of thinking for him or herself.

Anyway, todays reason I think George Bush should be removed from office and then voted out of humanity is this investigative report from the New Yorker.
