What's the point of quiet drives when you have a Cheetah?

I just got an 80GB Seagate Barracuda ATA IV today because I ran out of hard drive space again. I was hoping to try to see what all the hype was about, with the drive being so quiet. But I ran into a problem, it's hard to hear anything when you have a 36GB 10k RPM Cheetah in your computer. I can't hear my 1000BB either, I realized.

So what is the point in all these new quiet drives? I wish drive manufacturers would focus more on speed and reliability than on how quiet the stupid drive is.

I know there are many people that don't have 5 hard drives in their computers, but for me quiet drives just don't make any sense.
