That's a decent improvement in performance for x264 encoding, especially when comparing the 4770K.
Yeah, not too bad considering Intel has been quite stingy with generational performance boosts in the consumer CPUs. The baddest Kaby Lake 4C/8T i7 isn't going to offer anything approaching that vs. a Haswell 4C/8T i7.

I picked up four 8gB sticks of PC3-14900R for my E5-2687W v2 X79 system. I had 1600MHz stuff, but I felt the need to go 1866MHz since the v2 CPU + X79 chipset will do 1866 whereas with the v1 it could only do 1600. $75 on eBay the other day after a $15 off coupon. It arrived today and now I'm memtest86 testing it.
