Has anyone tried any WiFi Antennas to see if they actually make a difference. I picked up this one today at Best Buy so that I can return it when it doesn't work.

Well, it really doesn't do much of anything. Signal strength really isn't boosted much if at all.

So does anyone have experience with a product that works better than this?

A little antenna like that would at best only give you a few % better coverage.

If you want real performance you need a real antenna like the first three models on this page http://www.netcomm.com.au/Wireless/antennae.php. To give you an idea of size the first one (smallest) is about 1 metre long (2.5ft).

Before you ask, the "Wireless Extender" is a complete waste of time and I have one for sale for a $1

I've used these antennae from Hawking a few times. They work great with Linksys and Apple APs and not at all with Netgeat or Dlink.

I sold one to one of my students, whose needs were greater than anything I have ever wanted to use one for. I think he told me he was getting about a city block and a half's worth (about 225m) of range out of his.
