I am omnipresent
I just noticed that Newegg.com has several varieties of X800 and X800Pro below the crucial $200 mark, and a few models even below $150. I suppose that means ATI is about to release a even newer and faster product, but when I was looking last week at X800s I couldn't find any for less than $180.

Not selling any or anything, just kind of surprised at the difference a week made.

Ben's Bargains:

ZipZoomFly.com has the MSI RX800-TD128E Radeon X800 PCI Express 128MB DDR Video Card w/HDTV-Out & DVI for $149 - $30 rebate [Exp 9/30] = $119 with free shipping.

I wish they had already released the R520 when I finally threw down the gauntlet and bought the components for my new gaming machine a couple weeks ago.

What stuff did you end up getting? I'm still considering the gigabyte x800xl for my upgrade.

I'll stick a post in the "Rollcall: who is running what?" thread tonight or tomorrow with a list. Nothing out of the ordinary...for me anyway.

Why's that? You were eager to pay more for a product that underperformed the currently available nVidia parts?

According to benchmarks I've seen, the new 1800XT matches the 7800GTX, but since it generates more heat and needs a dual-slot cooling solution, I agree that it, in a way, is a less desirable card than the 6 months old 7800GTX from nVidia.

The 1800XL seems to be inferior to the 7800GT in all aspects, although ATI prices it to 7800GTX's level.
