    Monitors in 2022

Personally, just move from dual 20" 1680x1050 displays to a single 25" 2560x1080 monitor. (LG 25UM58) When the kids got new PCs late last year, I went with 24" 1080p@144Hz displays, mainly due to desk space requirements. (4K @ 24" was rare/expensive).

Agree 100%, but this is inline with MS attempting to move everything to a SaaS model with returning monthly revenue, and by doing so provides a lock-in to their eco-system, as well as doing forced upgrades on infrastructure (which includes client OSes as well). The real nasty one is the push...

    Video Cards

No one was expecting the GTX 1630 to perform well, but IMO it's about 3-4x the price of what it should be, and that's the real stink here. (The HUB video posted does a cost per frame, and the GTX 1630 significantly under performs in this category). Or with the release of the GTX 1630 just...

And nVidia saw how poorly the AMD RX6400 performs, says "hold my heatsink" and releases the GTX1630, which costs more than a RX6400 and performs worse. Most benchmarks put the GTX 1630 in a similar performance bracket as the old GTX 1050 (non Ti). Interesting take...

Depending on the benchmarks, that's about right... I've seen it range from 3070Ti at the bottom end, to easily beating a 3090 in some. (beating the 3090 was mainly in video encode/decode area). Gaming wise, I would expect closer to the 3070Ti as mentioned. IMO that's quite an achievement, since...

But alas, Matrox couldn't compete with 3dfx, ATi and nVidia in 3D accelartion for OpenGL/DirectX and later morphed into a vendor that supported heaps of displays off a single card, or ultra-high-res for medical imaging. (both niche but profitable areas).

IMO the i3 thing is more a production binning issue than a marketing one. Why throw away silicon if only the GPU component is faulty and can work fine as an i3? Back in the day I went from a Trident based card to a Matrox Mystique 220 and picture quality and the ability to drive more than...

It's the same here, GTX1050Ti's still going for a premium (~AU$250-$300), with RX6500XT going for AU$300+. Mind you RTX3050's are selling for AU$500+. I think it's a combination of: supply/demand (entry level cards sell a lot more units that mid-range cards), typically selling on price rather...

    Total Bytes Written Weirdness

I tend to prefer 3rd party tools in some cases as they deal with all the "issues" with the firmware and reporting. Since CrystalDiskInfo is open-source, you could look at the source code to determine how it works out total bytes read/written from the smart information. So it looks like a Data...

    Total Bytes Written Weirdness

IIRC, Data Units is the NAND cell size, you'll have to find what NAND is used and find out what size cells it's using as the physical size to determine the correct value. (typically it's 4KB, but I have seen some that are 8KB or 16KB in the wild). As a best guess, it'll be 4K sectors (The NVMe...

There should be a setting in the BIOS to mirror the screen to external displays on boot. If not, you're out of luck. (It's not a limitation of the driver, but rather the firmware of the GPU that will have this support or not).
