Personally, just move from dual 20" 1680x1050 displays to a single 25" 2560x1080 monitor. (LG 25UM58) When the kids got new PCs late last year, I went with 24" 1080p@144Hz displays, mainly due to desk space requirements. (4K @ 24" was rare/expensive).

There should be a setting in the BIOS to mirror the screen to external displays on boot. If not, you're out of luck. (It's not a limitation of the driver, but rather the firmware of the GPU that will have this support or not).
