Thank you, Mercutio. 1080i, and my 1060, were both a bit ahead of their time. It's amazing they haven't been really drilled by the latest offerings, and they maintain value. DD had suggested the 7800X3D first. It's really a maze with the socket 4 chip variety, and the 5 is likewise, many chips...

Thanks! Searches came back the Radeon Vega 8 was the chip on the 5700G. Apparently that search was wrong, or something, not sure what, doubled the performance on the 5700G. The others are cards suggested, or one's I've owned. I also try not to upgrade unless it's a BIG jump. With Intel, it...

I went through some dark times. Could barely walk. Lost 7 year job, refing Lacrosse. Evicted. Forgot about living in a hotel for...

Mercutio mentioned the 1080 as still viable. Looks like he's right. Odd the 1080 has retained such a high price tag.

Correct. The old rig did everything I needed to do, until it was getting near 100% cpu use, while watching video, or Hulu. I also found RAM really helped, and I was stuck at 16 GB, unable to fill the other 2 slots to get it to 24. I've yet to find any programs that are adversely affected by...

I bought the 7900X3D. The compare shows it's faster clock speed, single thread, then the7950X3D for about 200 dollars less. The office machine is a 5700G. Should be about 3-8 times faster then the Intel 920. Plus, I don't need a video card, even though I have one. Funny part is I did all this...

The single thread tests on these 3 are within 3.0% of each other. Essentially no difference. The 7900X3D has a 4.4mhz low end, and 5.6 high end. Seems to me not a lot of difference between the 3 chips, and the value goes to the 7900X3D, since most of my stuff is probably going to work best with...

Heat management: Water Cooling in an Apartment?

Lava is really humbling. I don't know of anything that stops it, or even affects it, short of a nuclear bomb. The only good news is, at least on the Big Island, it doesn't move at high speed. The only thing that slows and finally stops it is water. But, it takes a LONG time. We have been lucky...

As for the focusing: at the zoo you want to take the fence, or screen out of the picture. Autofocus on my Canon tends to put those items in focus, and the animal not. Hence manual focus to get rid of the foreground stuff. I'm too old to be an Adobe money slave.. :puke: Oddly, the stuff I want...

Canon Eos Rebel. I take a LOT of animal pictures, mainly at San Diego Zoo, or Safari park 17-300 zoom. Using mainly manual focus. I tried to post a great pic of an elephant, at very close range, but it was too big. So mainly change photo sizes, clarity and sharpening, cleaning up bad focus.

I was referred by my nuerosurgeon, head of pretty much everything down here, to the person that tested for it. Thought it might be due to a pinched spinal column, but appears it isn't. You suggested another site for cpu evaluation. I went to that one, before I bought the 7900X3D. It indicated a single digit difference, like 2, between the 78900X3d, and the 97950X3D. As you said, the benchmarks for passmark, in this case, are a bit questionable.
