As far as I remember it was a ONE-DAY-ONLY sale on refurb D7200 for $800. Off the official NikonUSA web site so I think they had the one year warranty. But sadly it was one day only.

True. Very true. The NikonUSA web site had a "one-day-only-special-deal" on refurb 7200 for $800. I should have snagged one.

Since I use my 200-500 f/5.6E lens at the long end 99% of the time, my new dream, I'll never be able to afford it, lens is this one. Of course it's 4-5x the value of my car. :rotfl::rotfl:

I guess I could have done that, but $18 minus "the hassle/time of doing that" = not worth it. I now have 10x 64 GB SD cards. 6x more than I'd probably ever need. And that is if I shoot in "raid-1" mode where exact same data is written to slot-1 and slot-2 at the same time. Now what will...

Nice boost. You were at 75 mb/s download before correct? You should notice the bump when downloading multiple streams at the same time. But like me, they (ISP) increased the download speed and left the upload at 10 mb/s (which usually tests around 12 mb/s).

On sale today the 14th for $35. Typical. I buy something just before it goes on sale. Sigh. If I didn't already have a ridiculous number of 64 GB SD cards I'd probably buy two more.

A few more birder shots. I need to get off my lazy butt and setup some feeders. Seems I am only getting shots of quayles and the one hummingbird whose territory extends to my backyard. I did get a shot of a songbird, on the neighbors roof, but too far away for good detail. This bird also...

Now that I've had the new SanDisk Extreme Pro SD cards for a while I can comment on their performance. I have noticed a nice boost in write speed. From my unscientific tests I noticed the full buffer in my D610 completely empties in 7.x seconds down from the 11-12 seconds with the slower...

A new awesome toy coming to the Canon world. Rumor blurb here. Looks like Tamron and Sigma, with their 150-600mm and now Nikon with its 200-500mm f/5.6 lenses is taking some business away from Canon. Canon has the body for the entry level birders/wildlife folks, the 7Dii, but only the aging...

Long thread created in Jan 2015 at [H]ard|OCP here. The specs list "HDMI 1.4 (HDMI 2.0 in Q2 2015), DisplayPort 1.2 (DisplayPort 1.3 in Q2 2015)" back in January. Did the newer ports make it into the monitor?

Yeah, you can write RAW+JPG to one card and camera will mirror those to second card. So yeah, 4 image copies per shot. Now that I think about it, that's a bit excessive. I think I'll only mirror the SD cards in vacation/location/bummer-if-a-card-failed situations. I did not do a full...

I'm shooting RAW+JPG to one card. 14-bit lossless compressed RAW + fine-mode JPGs. I'm also mirroring (raid-1) the two SD slots. So I'm setup for the slowest possible write speeds. I've been taking a 2-3 shot bursts, wait a few seconds, then another short burst trying to capture the birdies...

Per Nikon the close focus distance is 7.2 feet or 2.2 meters for the 200-500mm f/5.6E lens. I'm currently using this SanDisk Extreme SD card which is rated at 40 MB/s. So I may be limited by SD card. I may have to buy one "high speed" SD card to see if I'm card limited or camera limited as...
