    Hard drive test.

The first post I managed to bumble finger. Here are the ATTO results for 5 hard drive I tested. They were all tested on the same computer; Intel DH55TC, Intel i5 760, and 16GB of RAM. Some of the results are interestng. I left out the chart from the original Raptor.

    Dummy Test

Yes. This morning I ran ATTO on 6 different hard drives from the original Raptor to a Crucial SSD. I want to post the results for everyone to see. Thus, this test.

    Ergonomic mice

I made my own "desk" for home computer use. It is "L" shaped. The bottom of the "L" is flipped over (it would be a backwards "L" if you looked down on it. "_|" ) The short section is for my forearm to rest on with the mouse being on the main section. This keeps my wrist straight and is extremely...

Search Conduit : what a plague.

Years ago we did fresh installs every6-8 months to keep the OS running. (Win95) Now I guess you need to reinstall just to clean out all the spyware, viruses, trogens, and all the other crap that infects computers.

I usually open Task Manager then go into Affinity and shut off a processor or two in folding when I need to do something on the computer. At least F@H continues to run if I forget about it.

    UPS Help

Actually, we are not replacing them. Most of them are on a piece of production equipment. If there is a power failure at the equipment, there is not much sense keeping the computer powered up. They just add to our maintenance.

No, I'm not kidding. Some of these were installed by well meaning but uninformed employees and vender's. We are in the process of removing them when we find them or they totally fail, which is how we usually find them. The only ones we are keeping at the moment are the ones in our network hubs...

All I have ever used are APC. If you don't replace the batteries when the unit tells you to, the entire UPS shuts down in ~30 days. Not much of an Uninterruptable PS

If you download that utility, scan it with your virus/adware scanner. Security Essentials flagged it as having adware in it.

    SSD in RAID

No, I'm running version 006. I have been reading the Crucial forums also. I didn't see anything bad about V006 of the firmware though. But I didn't read every thread either. The AS SSD test software gives me a total score of 496. When I had the two drives in RAID 0, the score was 819.

    SSD in RAID

I would think TRIM would be more important on the smaller SSDs with less free space to start with. Mine are 64GB.

    FF4 and IE9

I've been using Chrome beta for a couple of days. I like it. I wish it had one feature of IE9 though. As soon as you finish downloading a file, IE9 scans it with MS Security Essentials. So far it has found two 'medium alert' items. Nice

    SSD in RAID

I removed the hard drives from the RAID array. Not having the TRIM function was not worth the extra performance. In real world use, it's hard to tell the difference anyway.

    SSD in RAID

Performance on the ICH9R is great. Still need to run ATTO but AS SSD overall score is almost doubled from a single drive, but thats what you would expect.

I now have 2 Crucial C300 64GB SSD drives. I also have a 3Ware 9650se RAID controller. I have not found a way to get the 9650se to work with the SSDs. Sometimes it sees both SSDs, other times it sees both but says one is degraded. I have the latest firmware and drivers loaded. One of the...
