    RAID 0 - a call for a metareview

the loading happens in never winter nights and halo... call of duty has it too I think. It doesnt apear to happen in quake, unreal, halflife games... I dont remember it with battlefield 1942(but the game does require a good bit of RAM -512MB to play smoothly).

    RAID 0 - a call for a metareview

some games, simulators for instance, require that things (parts of a map, textures, models, sounds) get loaded mid-game. these can cause slight pauses or skips, but are really hard to measure because they effect the overall fps so little. Like alot of things, it's complex and hard to measure...

    RAID 0 - a call for a metareview

I bought two 75gxps in july 2000.. had them striped for over 2 years on promise controllers... have since broken up the array and sold one of the disks... the other disk is in my family's computer and was until recently used for the OS, now it just sits there as a backup if they need anything...

    Musical chairs (I mean computers)

I dont think I've ever been able to do the the quick repair (automated repair process?) in 2k and XP. I have had no problems doing a reinstall ontop of a current OS (which is what used to be referred to as a repair before 2k and XP).

Most ignorant thing I've ever heard in my life

i have to think he's lying. He's old enough that he's probably used gas stoves and heaters before (obviously since he has a gas oven). When you light the gas you can easily see how flammable it is. Same thing in a lighter... same thing with a BBQ.... pretty hard to imagine that someone who uses...

    [NEWS] - SFF review

If I recall, anand was one of the 1st places to do a review of the 1st pIII shuttle X-PC's. I think they really helped shuttle get a start by thier high recomendations. Incidentally I did a project in a technical writing class about a year ago that featured the shuttle X-PCs at about $400-$500...

OMG! they've done it now. Those jack asses. I hope they still support atleast giving the username with the URL since IE automatically gives a user/pass when trying to log into a site, which will then lock you out on many servers.

    Athlon64 3000 - who's taking the $215 plunge?

i wouldn't blame that on the chip, I would blame it on the motherboard 1st and foremost. I noticed that this SiS based board I am using now is much more responsive during I/O operations compared to my kt266 based boards(or any other board I've layed hands on). However it seems slightly less...

that's what I thought you'd say... but I just want it for TV and DVD's.. maybe music. I'm nothing close to an audiophile and think that the jump from a $500 system to a $1000 one would be wasted on me.

I use the term stress differently than if I were to ask you if your day was stressful. I'm sure they don't go home to their wife and tell her how lousy their day was.
