Yeah, i tried to do some hdparm tuning on my fedora file server.... and I found out I was already at optimal speeds... I can increase the speed from cache about 50MB/sec, but actual disk speed doesnt change more than a few hundered KB/sec at most.

I'd never take my camera under salt water.. maybe freshwater... for underwater photography I use one of those disposible cameras.. I can get the "prints" in digital if I want or just scan the real prints later.

winXP SP1a removes the JAVA VM... when I installed the newest version of open office(on a couple computers) it said that I didnt have a VM installed.. I was able to install without it, but some features would be disabled... All I did was goto JAVA.com and install the VM and then alt-tab back...

i've used winISO and ISO buster. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but I cannot remember them at the moment. I think winISO (although a little fruity looking) was better for the purpose you describe.
