    Recovering my linux box

Just plug the thing in and it should work. If you don't automatically run kudzu at bootup, you can do it manually and let it configure as much as possible (everything basically...). No reinstallations necessary with linux.

How do i view uptime in mandrake linux?

PW, SpectraLinux is made by a company I'm very familiar with ;). I like it because it's based on RedHat (the distro I'm most familiar with, and like the best) but it also includes updated versions of a large part of the programs. So when I install SL, I don't have to download 500megs of stuff...

    Digital camera

I just bought my father a Canon Powershot G2 + 256MB kingston CF. The camera feels quite good, a bit heavy though. The zoom is easy to use. The only complain I might have is that the LCD is a bit small, and the font size perhaps a bit too small for elderly people. Other than that the camera felt...

    Update to RH 7.3

Hi all! Just updated my main system from RH 7.2 + all updates to RH 7.3+ all updates. Everything has gone well so for, except that I had to do a make mrproper, copy the .config file, make menuconfig and save and then a make dep to get all things working. This because I updates the kernel with...

    Guillemot Maxi Sound Fortissimo

I use an optional Optical I/O card for my SBLive to get optical out. This is for movies. I had to get the card because my amplifier did *not* have SPDIF :(. I use it to get the digital sound from the dvd movies to my home theater. As I have understood it, that card is ok. Should be quite good...

    PC Pics

How about using some better fans? Some less noisy ones? Like Papst or similar, or a rheostat One other thing. I took out the bottom fan (the one below the HD bays) and the temp on my A7V266 raised about 10C, but the processor temperature stayed the same.... The sensors must be directly in front...

    A more silent computer

Uhh... Now the 36LZX deffinitely sounds too loud for my computer...:) Gotta get rid of that HD. The fans can't be a problem anymore, as they are rated at 12db and the processor and PS fans at 19db. I've even cut the fan grills from the case. As Handruin is displaying in the other thread...

:) I did think about putting the PC outside my window, but the neighbours would deffinitely object. :) It is much more quiet now. I think the 36lzx is the one making the most noise in the computer. Could anyone comment on this? Almost forgot, I removed the fan from the heatsink on the...

I just got myself an SLK-800 cooler to replace my Swiftech MC462. I'm using a 19db 26cfm Papst 80mm cooler on it. Seems to cool very well, a little better than the swiftech. The change is partly due to the fact that I wanted a little better performing cooler with a little easier retention...
